What to Expect When Visiting

Here at Westside, we are a relatively small but close-knit congregation.  Being so near to Indiana University in Bloomington, we naturally have a strong college-aged membership. Our loving environment fosters spiritual learning and growth for all age groups.

Our typical Sunday morning gatherings start at 9:30am with a Bible study led by one of the men of the congregation.  We also offer classes for children of various ages. Following that, at 10:30, we begin the worship service. During the service, we engage in a cappella singing, take up a collection from our members to support our congregation’s work, participate in group prayers, partake of the Lord’s Supper, and listen to a 20-40 minute sermon from the morning’s designated speaker.

Sunday evening services begin at 5:00pm and proceed much like the morning service.  We dedicate the third Sunday of every month to a song and prayer service, consisting of several a cappella worship songs intermixed with scripture readings and prayers.

Every Wednesday at 7:00pm, we have another hour of Bible study.

All of our meetings conclude with an extension of Christ’s invitation. Christ said “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” –Mt 10:28 KJV.   We believe that baptism by immersion in water for remission of sins is necessary for eternal salvation, and are honored to offer the opportunity to answer Christ’s call any and all in attendance.

If you are visiting, please stick around after services and give us a chance to get to know you!  We hope to see you soon!
